Diary of an old cheeser

Hi there! Like other blogs, this is my chance to wax lyrical (some might say talk utter cr*p) about a) what's happening in my life b) all of my pet obsessions in particular music, tv, movies, books and other generally connected things, quite often of the retro, old and "cheesy" variety. Hence the title of my blog. Feel free to leave a comment if the mood takes you. There's nothing like a good chinwag about one's favourite topics and besides I love to meet new people! Cheers, Simon

The permhead takes a stroll

Leo Sayer is out out out!! No, he hasn't declared his homosexuality or anything so exciting. Although he's certainly proved to be one of the biggest drama queens of them all. Ian "H" Watkins behaves like a maiden aunt in comparison.

No, Mr Sayer is now out of the BB house. Turns out that he wasn't evicted. Instead he chose to walk out after a row about ... pants. Of all things. Apparently he'd run out of smalls and for some (not really specified) reason this caused a row which provoked him into leaving. Mmm.

But what I really want to know is - exactly what kind of pants did Leo wear?

Did they look like this?

Or this?

A nation holds its breath, eager to know the answer ...

PS Carole Malone was voted out tonight. In spite of being a Tabloid columnist, I actually thought she seemed rather nice and it was only because she broke the rules about discussing evictions that she got voted out. Otherwise I think most of the housemates liked her. It's a harsh world sometimes.

I expect it depends on the occasion, which pants you wear, but perhaps that's already saying too much! Don't forget, for our American friends, pants are trousers but here we're talking underwear and bigtime by the look of it!!

Read a letter on Teletext suggesting Leo for the next "Doctor Who". Next thing you know, the TARDIS is gonna be full of ex-pop stars of both sexes!

Like your new avatar, Simon. Tom looks like the Artful Dodger in your pic, which I don't recall seeing before.

I suspect the state of Leo's pants rather than the style were the real problem. Maybe he'd been up to nefarious pant-based activity in the night...? Or suffered an embarrasing colonic accident while hitting a high C?

In the Guardian today they point out that one of Leo's biggest hits was, oh what was it called again... "The Show Must Go On!" haha. Obviously not.

Carole was a bag who was just in there to get material. Carole has spent most of her writing career at The Mirror lambasting those who chase celebrity and yet so slavishly pursued it herself with this pathetic attempt at positive PR. Notice in the interview how she held things back to save things for her column and also struggled to explain how she could write horrible things about people and then be nice to them in the house. Was she too scared to admit that she purposefully writes inflammatory, woman-bashing bile because, sadly, her newspaper's editorial policy - and indeed readership- demands it?

Time Warden - indeed, "pants" can mean different things depending on which country you inhabit.

Leo as the new Dr - nooooo!!! Then again I suppose "F"ing and blinding and giving the finger to the Daleks might just shock them into total defeat. Perhaps we need a new "street" Dr with accompanying filthy language.

On second thoughts, definitely NOT. And certainly not with the weirdo Mr Sayer playing the role of the good Dr. He'd make a good mad villain though.

And glad you like the new Avatar, thanks! That was Tom's Baker's "Autumnal" look for his last season as the Doc, put together by costume designer June Hudson. I love the blend of the colours and general look - a fabulous new variation on the Fourth Doctor's costume.

Steve - A-ha! I didn't realise that, or perhaps wasn't watching properly when it was announced. Silly me! I think either of your theories is very credible. Excellent supposition on your part!! And very funny!!

Nora - you are absolutely right. Such delicious irony.

Lost Boy - how I love the expression "bag"! Ha ha ha! I confess I don't know much about Carole atall, having never read her column. If it's true that she's so two-faced, that's pretty shocking stuff, yet in other ways not so surprising. Tabloid journalists will do anything to dish the dirt on people and slag them off all in the name of a "good" story. And yes that's very bizarre / hypocritical of her to laugh at celebrities when she is starring in a show called "Celebrity Big Brother". Another big piece of irony.

I had thought that Leo would not wear undies given the pants he wore on the sticker on my mom's 8-track growing up.

...but, if I had to guess I would go with pink jock straps. ...this is what i think Leo would wear.

Matty - mmm intriguing! How could you tell from the sticker that Leo didn't wear pants?

Whatever they look like, I'm sure his undies were supremely tacky or unsightly.

Actually as I write this (Saturday night) they're now showing the bit where Leo storms out of the house cos BB wouldn't provide him with clean pants. (Blogger Steve was good enough to explain earlier on too...) He's "F"ing and blinding at the bodyguards and making a total scene. now. What a total idiot!! Get a sense of perspective, matey!!

Seeing Leo give it large to the hulking bodyguards was akin to watching a Chihuahua take on a pack of rabid St Bernards. A chihuahua with a white boy afro that is. Ineffably funny.

BB were quite cuntish here. What if teo people were up for eviction and one walked? Would that mean that the other would get the boot? Unfair!

Leo had the highest vote, he should have gone and left things like that.

    Send Carol back!

    Cleo to win!

And I think Leo would have been wearing ladies' crutchless panties. Quite lacy.

Love your description of Leo vs the Bodyguards, Steve. Great analogy! Although he was brimming with anger and I bet he would have swung for someone, given half the chance.

I see your point, Minge. With Leo walking out Carole had no choice but to leave. Yes, that is rather unfair.

Mother of Many - thank you for your kind comments! And I like your TV family faves list!

And I am loving all of your suggestions as to Mr Sayer's underwear. All of them are viable, I think! Perhaps I should have set up an online poll or something ...
