Tom Cruise: Is he or isn't he?
Labels: closet, gay, heterosexual, homosexuality, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise
Hi there! Like other blogs, this is my chance to wax lyrical (some might say talk utter cr*p) about a) what's happening in my life b) all of my pet obsessions in particular music, tv, movies, books and other generally connected things, quite often of the retro, old and "cheesy" variety. Hence the title of my blog. Feel free to leave a comment if the mood takes you. There's nothing like a good chinwag about one's favourite topics and besides I love to meet new people! Cheers, Simon

I think Mr C isn't. Too nerdy. All that scientology shit. And I bet he's repressed in the bedroom and more than a bit kinky too. But he ain't cool enough or savvy enough to be gay. He's woodenly straight (no pun intended).

When it is from another dimension you're not gay or straight. Sexuality doesn't matter<
The only think that counts: Kinky!!!
More kinky its better.
But he's gay gay gay as a goose anyway.
I know because I had sex with him;)

The evidence speaks for itself... Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Katie Holmes... way too elaborate for a charade, don't you think? On the other hand, Tom did play the lead in "Top Gun"!

Steve - I know what you mean. I'm very glad you don't think he's savvy/cool enough to be gay - like it!! However aren't repressed geeks sometimes the most suspect?
C I Demedeiros - Hello and welcome. I agree, sexualuty SHOULDN'T matter. But where Mr Cruise is concerned, I'm intrigued.
So can you tell us more about your encounter with the Cruiser? Did he have a big one?
Tim - Lots of leading ladies yes, but then wasn't it the same for Rock Hudson too?? And what are you trying to say about Top Gun, pray? Please elaborate!
Tim

Oh dear, if all this time has been an act for TC...do you really think he could pull that off? (Pun intended, it's rude Tueday here)

Is it really necessary to marry your leading ladies though, as Tom did two of the three I mentioned, or even date them with the intention of marriage, as I believe he did Penelope? Too elaborate a pretence, and way too much like hard work!
"Top Gun" is generally perceived as a "gay" movie. Can't think why?!! Only seen it once, years ago, and it didn't exactly "Take My Breath Away"! Bored me rigid, though not literally you understand!!

I heard from someone that he's actually more asexual than anything else. He was originally going to be a monk before becoming an actor. If the Hollywood tongue wagging is to be believed, its another mega-famous Mr C who's into guys. There's also an absolutely bonkers story about Will Smith going around too. Who knows?

All of you seem rather cynical about Tom really being a bender! Am I imagining it then?!
However Amanda, I'm sure TC could pull MANY things off...
Tim - All of these marriages are just a FRONT I tell you! A FRONT!! Don't you at least agree that the Hollywood "machine" forces people into adopting a certain guise, in order to court public favour?
And although I'm not a massive fan, I do think Top Gun is fun in a cheesy kind of way. As for the gay appeal, well it's all those butch and handsome men, not to mention the infamous locker room scene, I'd say. Perhaps "homoerotic" is a more precise term to use.
Lost Boy - interesting. So who's the "other" Mr C who favours the boys? WHO is it? And Will Smith is a batty boy too?!

I don't think the Hollywood "machine" necessarily forces actors to behave in a certain way. I suspect they do it willingly 'cos they know, if they conform to what's expected, they'll end up the richer! Courting public favour is all about relieving people of their cash!! Might seem cynical but it's true.
