Captain Jack gets TorchWOOD?
I had the most incredibly rude dream about John Barrowman last night. And woke up...wishing that I hadn't woken up.Well, it's better than dreaming of Beverley Craven (although I guess some may differ on that one).
I've always been a bit undecided about John B. Sometimes I think he's incredibly gorge and handsome, other times he reminds me of a cross between Barbie and Ken (with a bit of Action Man thrown in) i.e. very plastic and doll-like. Him and his civil partner are too shiny and nicey-nicey for their own good, like they've been made on a gay production line, or something. Sometimes he seems to be seriously overdoing it with the "ladies really love me cos I'm a camp queen" shtick-thing. (And talking of sticks he's rumoured to have quite a big one).
I've got to say he was very HOT in my dream though and was doing all the right things...
What would my husband say?
And where is my head at?

If it is -- a good percentage of the boys in the Castro look like him.

I know what you mean about him. However, as a lady of a certain age (ahem) I can honestly say that he man does have something. I'm not the sort to develop crushes on blokes on the telly (honest) but John Barrowman and David Tennant do have charisma that shines through the screen. I agree with mother of many - definitely worth dreaming about.

Matty - Noooooo!! That is NOT John Barrowman. Come now, you must know who he is - tall gay guy of Scots descent, now with a US accent, has done lots of musicals and also most recently was the multi-sexual space rogue Captain Jack in Dr Who AND Torchwood...You get me now?
If what you say about the Castro in your first comment is true, I must come visit soon!! If on the other hand, they're more likely to resemble the Village People referenced in your second comment, I am LESS interested, shall we say...

Nora - Glad JB does it for you too. I really can't make up my mind but he's no dog, that's for sure. Just a bit too polished and shiney. I'm sure you ladies would love to dream about him, though from your point of view he's just a tease isn't he (and gets off on the adoration...)

You should check out John Barrowman in Central Park West, i.e. trashy American soap opera from the mid 90s. It was completely OTT with ridiculous plots. He played a heart-throb lawyer type, whose nutjob girlfriend faked a pregnancy and blackmailed him into marrying her. He got her back by murdering her, then jumping bail and fleeing the country. With the exception of Torchwood, it might be the gayest telly he's ever done.

When John Barrowman was interviewed on Jonathan Ross, I felt he very much got the better of Jonathan Ross and was a lot funnier than him! JB might be nicey-nicey, but there's a formidable brain under those poster-boy looks and frankly I think he'd do a better chat show job than hoary old £18m money-for-old-rope Ross! Nowt wrong with a bit of charisma. More sexy than not!

I guess the Castro is a mix of those two and tourists taking pictures of homosexuals.

There's a very old, black and white, Gerry Anderson television puppet show from the 50s, which even I am too young to remember, called "Torchy, the Battery Boy" and John is equally wooden, if you'll pardon the expression!
Did you see Barrowman and Myleene, lacking any Klass, murdering Elton John's terrific "Your Song" just before the "Doctor Who" scene on "Children in Need"?

And now for something completely different...took the family off out to the Market at Riccarton today, scrounging about amongst the stalls and found some very old Dr Who magazines...didn't buy them cos the kids thought they were way too old (Jon Pertwee? Tom Bkaer? Old??) - do you think I should have? Am happy to go back next week and get 'em for you OC?

Newplanet - That does sound like a divinely trashy programme. Could JB play "straight" convincingly though? (I say "straight" as in sexual orientation, obviously the character was far from being a straight lawyer...)
Laura-eate - I think JB is intelligent, he just projects a slightly "plastic" persona at times.
Matty - Don't know who the attic man is!
Tim - What are you saying about JB's acting then?! I missed Barrowman and Mylene, as I did "Time Crash"! From your description it sounds as though missing the first was more preferable than the second. (Although thanks to you and other bloggers I was able to catch my blessed DW on You Tube...ah the joys of the net). There's something about Barrowman's singing and style which I do find kind of plastic and very "show-toon", I'm not a massive fan.
Sagi - Hey! Old DW magazines! Good on yer! I think you should have purchased them, they're probably a collector's item and worth a fortune! Don't worry about me though, I don't do geeky things like collect old mags...(!!)

Thanks for commenting on my blog and the conversation. I haven’t seen any Torchwoods yet but we plan on renting the first season. I do like Captain Jack on Doctor Who and think he is an extremely likable character; though I am not sure I like him as much as you. ;) My wife might, but then again I think she is too hot for David Tennant to go for Captain Jack. It appears neither myself nor your husband can compete with either of one of those two guys.

John B... corrr. As a happily married hetero even I thought he was a bit of 'all right'. I had no idea he batted for the other side until several episodes into Torchwood. Ah well, I still think he's yummy lol, but still not a patch on my old man hehe :-)
